TeensWork Alachua Summer Youth Employment

TeensWork Alachua works with employers to provide opportunities in early childhood education, hospitality, municipal management, retail and more.

Students receive:
• A paid internship opportunity
• Assistance creating a bank account
• Workforce development training
• Financial assistance training
• Job readiness assistance
• A one-on-one job coach to guide the student through the experience.

TeenWork Alachua isn’t just an opportunity for summer work. The program focuses on identifying and removing barriers to employment for students, ensuring they meet financial and career goals so they can be prepared for their future.


Eligibility Requirements:
• Grade levels: 7th- 11th
• 14-18 years old
• Enrolled in an Alachua County school. This can be a high school, charter school, private, virtual school, or GED equivalent.
• Resides in Alachua County
• Has not completed more than two previous sessions of TWA

Free Trauma-Based Mental Health Services for SWAG Children

 

Children who have experienced trauma and show signs like anxiety, depression, nightmares, or behavioral challenges may qualify for no-cost trauma counseling.

UF Math Circle

The University of Florida Math Circle is a free service to the Gainesville community that offers fun math activities for kids. The faculty and student-run group meets weekly and focuses on the enjoyment and exploration of mathematical ideas.

Spring 2026 Meeting Times and Locations
Math Circle meets in room 225 of Little Hall on the UF campus.

Free parking is available: see Location and Parking for more information. Please leave ample time for finding parking as sometimes other events on campus fill up the lot closest to Little Hall.

Main Circle (aimed at grades 6-12)
Meets weekly on Saturday from 10am to 11:30am.
Home football games sometimes closes the campus around the math department, in which case we will cancel or reschedule to Sunday.

January 17th – first meeting of spring semester.
No meeting due to spring break: March 14th, 21st.
April 18th – last session of the semester for all ages.


Elementary Circle (aimed at grades 1-5)
Meets from 9am to 9:55am on 1/24, 2/7, 2/21, 3/7, 3/28, 4/11
April 18th – combined session for all ages 10:00 – 11:30.
